The Simrell Hydro is a torch-powered vaporizer designed primarily for use with 14mm glass rigs. It uses a stainless steel thermal assembly, a titanium bowl, and an integrated stainless steel glass adapter. There are no batteries, electronics, or separate heater controller required.

It uses the same titanium bowl as the other Simrell variations, with a capacity of approx 0.05g to 0.15g. I think it performs very well with smaller loads, but it can produce even denser and more powerful vapor when the bowl is packed closer to capacity.

Heating Technique

The Hydro is the easiest Simrell variation to operate and requires the least amount of heating technique. Unlike the Titanium and Convection assemblies, you do not need to continuously rotate it while heating. You simply aim the torch at the area of the thermal assembly you prefer and wait for the temp indicator to click.

There are three visible heating zones that let you adjust the profile of the vapor. Heating near the top produces a lighter, more flavorful extraction, while moving lower gives you a hotter and denser hit. The middle area generally produces a more balanced hybrid-style hit.

Since you're not spinning the device while heating it, I find the Hydro easy to use consistently from hit to hit. You still have the ability to adjust the vapor output by heating different zones, but it does not require as much dexterity as the other Simrell heater assemblies.

Vapor and Effects

This model, like the others, can produce strong, repeatable hits with relatively small amounts of herb. The vapor is dense and flavorful, and running it through a glass rig helps manage the heat even more during larger extractions. You can use it with a dry glass piece like a sherlock or j-hook, or a rig filled with water, depending on your preference.

I find the effects slightly heavier and more sedative than the Titanium and Convection versions. This makes it ideal for evening use or for anyone who prefers stronger physical effects. The Simrell Ti is still my favorite for that exquisite flavor, but the Hydro is extremely close and gives you that extra simplicity and consistency.

Torch or Induction Heating

The Hydro can be heated with anything from a small single-flame torch to a large torch like the Big Shot. Larger torches heat the assembly much faster, so your flame position and timing become more important. My personal preference is a medium-size flame for a nice balance between heat-up time and vapor quality.

It is also compatible with induction heaters such as the YLL 3.0 and the Wand. Induction heating can make the process even more consistent, but you do lose some ability to fine-tune exactly where the heat is applied. With an IH you're more likely to get a balanced hybrid-style hit than a convection-heavy extraction.
